‘Chup Tazia’ or silent procession is being held on Wednesday 06-Nov-2019 morning in the capital of Sind, Karachi city.
The two main processions started from Nishtar Park and Rizvia Society. There is tight and strict security presence along the route of chup tazia, with more than 8000 personnel being deployed including Pakistan Rangers and police.
As part of security measures, pillion riding has been banned in Sindh.
A notification issued in this regard by the home secretary read that in order to deal with security threats on the occasion of Chup Tazia and ensure law and order, the Sindh government had decided to impose a ban on pillion riding under the Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in Karachi and other major cities of Sindh.
Many roads are blocked due to the processions, including main MA Jinnah Road and Jail Road. due to construction work on Club Road there is heavy traffic jam on Sharae Faisal and other main roads.
In parallel to chup tazia A 54-inch sewerage line on Club Road is being replaced after it caved in on Monday. The KWSB expects the work to be completed by Thursday.
