Emergency Rain Measures: In anticipation of forecasted rain in the metropolis, the Sindh government has officially declared a rain emergency in the province.
Half-Day Office Announcement in Karachi
In a statement on social media platform X, Mayor Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui announced that offices in Karachi would operate for only half a day on Friday. This precautionary measure aims to minimize the potential inconvenience caused by the anticipated weather conditions.
Meteorological Forecast and Precautionary Measures
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain, windstorms, and isolated hailstorms in Sindh from February 29 to March 2. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and stay indoors unless necessary. The CM has also alerted local bodies, administrations, and hospitals.

Emergency Rain Measures and Response Plan
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) briefed the CM on the expected rainfall patterns and measures taken to mitigate its impact. The government has built dams in Karachi to address potential water-related issues. Additionally, efforts are underway to improve rainwater drainage systems in the city. The CM has instructed the traffic department to ensure smooth vehicular movement during adverse weather conditions.
