Chief of the National Command and Operations Centre Asad Umer (NCOC) announced that COVID-19 vaccination registration would be open to all citizens after Eid. He said he termed the coming five to six weeks “critical” in Pakistan’s fight against the continuing third coronavirus wave.

“Vaccinating the population has always been a priority. We began a phased-wise approach in the beginning [and are now expanding it],” Asad Umer

The vaccination will be starting for people of age 50 in a few days. Speaking of vaccinations brought out so far, he said that 1.1 million people had been vaccinated via the government’s vaccination program, whereas 14,000 people had received a jab through the private sector. Asad Umer says, “We will be able to vaccinate more than 125,000 people per day after Eid”.
