In the honor of 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikh religion, PM Imran khan laid the foundation of State-of-the-art University on October 28, 2019.

This was launched after official agreement between Pakistan and India for opening Kartarpur Corridor on October 24,2019.

The signed pact will facilitate the visa-free pilgrimage of 5,000 travelers daily on-foot or by bus Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib temple.

The university is under construction in Nankana Sahib, the birth place of Baba Guru, located in northeast of Punjab Province.

Earlier on July 12, 2019 CM Punjab also initiated the founding stone of the same university.

Baba Guru Nanak University (BGNU) has claimed to serve around 5,000 to 10,000 students from all over the world while maintaining its standards similar to universities like Oxford and Cambridge.

The faculties available will be as; “medicine”, “pharmacy”, “engineering”, “computer science”, “language”, “music”, and “social sciences”.

The campus is spread on an area of 2,500 acres which will require estimate cost of Rs 6 billion to start-up

On Thursday, officials from Pakistan and India signed an agreement for opening the Kartarpur Corridor, to mark the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism.

  1. This comes a week after officials from Pakistan and India signed an agreement for opening the Kartarpur Corridor on October 24. The agreement will facilitate the visa-free travel of 5,000 pilgrims daily in groups or individually, on foot or by bus to visit Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib. The temple, located some m from the border with India, is believed to have been built on the site where Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, died in the h Century. Prime Minister Imran Khan will formally inaugurate the Kartarpur Corridor on November 9. Meanwhile, speaking at the stone laying ceremony of the university in Nankana Sahib, Imran Khan hit out at the opposition political parties again and said that he would not be blackmailed by any Azadi(freedom)March against him.
