PMD advisory team mentioned that no threat is present right away but as it was considered as category-1 storm, is recommended to the locals that “Currently, there is no threat to Pakistan’s coastal areas.
However, fishermen are advised to remain careful and avoid going into deep sea from Monday,”.
Recently just before the cyclone Maha, Cyclone Kyarr struck the surface of Karachi’s coastline which has shown increase in sea-level.
Water entered the Defence Housing Authority Phase VII and DHA Golf club, also affecting the parts of Karachi Boat Club in Clifton and local villages at Hawks bay.
Maha might be risky for Pakistan but right now Pakistan is safe from any danger.
The cyclone, previously forecast to go northwestward in the centre of the Arabian Sea, is headed northeastwards by Tuesday morning and expected to further weaken gradually into a tropical storm in the next 48 hours.
The past 12 hours and was “at a distance of about 794 km south of Karachi with maximum sustained surface winds of 120-140 kmph.”
Last week Kyaar effected Karachi Coastal localities and villages of Hawkes Bay, Ibrahim Hyderi, Lath Basti, Rehman Para, Rehri Goth and others were inundated, while seawater also entered parts of Defence Housing Authority Golf Club in DHA Phase-VIII and Karachi Boat Club in Clifton
