Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood said on Monday led a gathering of all the provincial education ministers to settle on an official choice with respect to resuming of educational institutions the nation over.

The ministers, as per sources, recommended that the schools would open in stages with classes from Grade 9 and up, as well as all universities, would reopen from September 15, while Grade 6-8 classes would continue by Sept 22. In any case, pre-primary and primary classes would resume on Sept 30.

He said that on September 30, if circumstance stays better primary educational organizations will be authorized to resume.

He also said, in the following stage, choices identifying with holding examinations will be taken.

The minister thanked parents for calmly waiting since the past six months, expressing that the nation is currently ready to reopen schools and colleges from September 15.

The minister cautioned education institutes administration that failure to follow COVID-19 SOPs would have outcomes.

He further said, it is difficult to state this but if any educational institute is discovered not following SOPs and procedures, at that point action will be made against them.

He said, parents, teachers, schools and various organizations should cooperate and everybody should cooperate. At exactly that point we will have be able to succeed in decreasing coronavirus.
