The small answer is: No. But one might wonder why this question arose in the first place. Well, apparently there’s a WhatsApp message circulating around Pakistan, regarding Telenor’s services. The message is in the form of a notification for Telenor users. The notice is in Urdu, and it accredited to PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority). It seems that they’re informed that Telenor’s services will come to an end by the 11th of December 2019, and therefore suggests that users should switch to another network by the 10th of December 2019.

Many have thought this to true, and some have even shared the news on other social media, confident that the news is indeed valid. Some decided to contact the entity in question itself, and hence texted Telenor on their social media accounts to clarify the matter. Telenor and PTA have since then announced on their individual social media accounts, that there is no reality behind the text whatsoever.

Perhaps this incident should once again help social media users realize, that “just because it’s on the internet, doesn’t mean it’s true”. We should almost always verify the news from any reliable source, before forwarding it to other people as “facts”.
