Uber App Closes All Operations Across Pakistan-Details
Uber Shuts Down Operations in Pakistan.

Uber Closes Doors in Lahore:

Uber, the popular ride-hailing service, has stopped operating in Lahore. Having withdrawn from Islamabad, Karachi, Multan, and several other cities in 2022, Uber has ceased its Lahore operations.

Surprise Shutdown

After previously leaving cities like Islamabad, Karachi, and Multan, Uber has now closed its doors in Lahore without any warning.

Careem Steps In

Uber’s spokesperson announced that while Uber leaves Pakistan, its subsidiary, Careem, will continue operating. Careem will provide ride-hailing services across the country and opportunities for drivers.

Changes in Strategy

The decision aligns with Uber’s global plan, focusing on markets with the potential for sustainable growth.

Compensation and Refunds

The service is offering a discount on Careem rides with the code LHR50. Users can enjoy a 50% discount on their next 5 rides. Additionally, Uber promises to refund cash balances to users in due course, although the timeline remains uncertain.

As mentioned earlier, Careem will continue to operate normally in all its cities, and customers can use it as an Uber replacement. As a reminder, Careem Rides operates in 10 cities across Pakistan: Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad, Abbottabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Quetta.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, Uber’s sudden shutdown in Lahore marks another significant change in the ride-hailing landscape in Pakistan. While users may feel the impact of this decision, they can find solace in the continued operation of Careem, Uber’s subsidiary, which remains available in several cities across the country. As the transportation industry evolves, users can expect further developments and adjustments, but for now, Careem stands ready to fill the void left by Uber’s departure from Lahore.
