Heavy vehicles prohibit in Karachi to improve traffic flow
The Sindh govt has decided to improve the traffic flow in Karachi.

The Sindh government has decided to apply strictly implement the court’s decision on the entry of heavy vehicles into Karachi to improve traffic flow in the city. However, The decision was made in an important meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Secretary Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput. Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon, Secretary Interior Saeed Ahmed Mangrijo, Secretary Transport Abdul Halim Shaikh and DIG Traffic Ahmed Nawaz, and Motorway Police officials attended the meeting.

Section 144 in the city:

While addressing the conference, Chief Secretary Sindh directed the Karachi Commissioner to take action against those making illegal fancy number plates by imposing 144 on the city. In this meeting, it was decided to deal with heavy vehicles with black glass, sirens, lights, and license plates. Furthermore,  it was decided to impound cars with fake license plates with a hefty fine. In this meeting, the Secretary of Sindh ordered the Deputy Minister of East to remove all types of parking spaces from University Road’s sidewalks to improve traffic flow.

Challan for violation:

Addressing the conference, DIG Traffic said 15,704 drivers had been arrested for rules violations this year. So far this year, 3421 cars have had their compliance certificates suspended. He added 320 FIRs have also been registered for heavy vehicles. He also said that the rate of Challan due to traffic violation is more than in Sindh. Moreover, he further noted that although various city organizations have issued more than 200 paid parking permits, none of the NOCs have consulted the traffic police in issuing these permits.

The fine will increase :

Sindh Chief Secretary Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput said the fine would also increase soon, and a summary will be sent to the Sindh Chief Minister. He directed the Karachi Commissioner to meet the MC, DMC, and Cantonment board of the Paid Parking Permits Commission officials to find a solution. A committee consisting of the secretary of IT, DIG Traffic, and DIG Driving License was formed. In this meeting, it was decided that the data of Charang issued by the traffic police will be linked with the driver’s license to facilitate dealing with traffic law violators.
