In July 2020, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Information Technology Board (KPIT) announced establishing Pakistan first-ever Digital City in Haripur. Finally, after about two years, the project is completed. Therefore, PM Imran Khan is visit Haripur today to open the state-of-the-art Pakistan Digital City Special Technology Zone project. Such a first-country project as it moves forward in adopting digital innovation.

Pakistan Digital City:

In addition, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Mahmood Khan and other federal and provincial ministers will be accompanying the PM at the opening ceremony. The Pakistan Digital City project is being completed at PKR 1.31 billion and extends over 86 kanals. The digital city will help ensure rapid economic growth, promote IT and related technologies, develop youth skills and create hundreds of thousands of jobs.

Provide all facilities for the IT industry :

Digital City Haripur is a basic KP govt project launch to provide all the resources and services in the IT industry under one roof. In addition, the project seeks to serve as a high-profile area to promote collaboration and innovation between academics, research, industry, and editors from Pakistan and abroad and it will also be useful in other integrated sectors such as the electronics industry, software houses, the mobile phone industry, technology integrators, the computer industry. Etc.

Background:

Last month, PM Imran Khan launched Lahore Technopolis, a specialized technology center, to create new job opportunities and improve exports of Pakistan. As mentioned above, the project was further developed by KPITB in 2020. After that, in August 2021, the KP govt approved the ‘Digital City’ project in Haripur and set aside an estimated cost of Rs. 1.3 billion for this purpose.

The Special Technology Zones Authority and the Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology hosted an event to officially announce the opening of Special Technology Zones in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday. The Honorable PM, Imran Khan, attended the event as the chief guest. CM KP Mahmood Khan, Ministers of State Pervez Khattak, Asad Umar, and Umar Ayub, Shahbaz Gul, STZA Chairman, Aamir Hashmi, and others were also present at the event.

Pakistan First-Ever Digital City:

STZA has awarded the first Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Engineer License to PAF-IAST and the second to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IT Board of Pakistan Digital City Haripur. Both PAF-IAST and KPITB are committed to developing information systems, which will enable youth employment, job creation, and economic transformation through the technology sector. STZs will pave the way for young people, promote new high-tech skills, and create jobs, businesses, and international investors.
