The water conflicts in Pakistan seem to become worse with the passage of time. Moreover, the Indus River continues to drop. Due to this reason, Mangla and Tarbela Dams are nearly at the dead level. In this regard, the Indus River Authorities analyze the water situation thoroughly.

They reported that there is about 32 percent of the shortage of water in Punjab and Sindh. Previously, there was a 23% shortage. This drastic change of figures is an alarming situation for both Sindh and Punjab.

The Indus River System Authority reported a 10% of water shortage:

As the water conflicts in Pakistan are increasing rapidly across the country. Many areas are affected by the shortage of water. However, the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) reported that the river Indus is continuously getting out of water. The percentages of water dropped from 23 to 32 percent.

This water scarcity majorly affects Sindh and Punjab. In addition, the recent reports of IRSA show that the water share of Punjab dropped to 83,000 cusecs. Whereas, for Sindh, it was about 74,000 cusecs.

Meanwhile, for the independent monitoring of water share, Sindh enlists five barrages including; Jinnah Headworks, Chashma Barrage, Taunsa Headworks, Trimmu Barrage, and Punjand Barrage.

In this regard, Punjab declares three stations i.e. Guddu, Sakahar as well as Kotri station. Both provinces appointed their independent monitoring inspectors for the analysis of the complete water reports along with the Prime Minister’s permission.

While addressing the joint meeting with the PTI members, IRSA provides a brief description of the water situation in Punjab and Sindh. Moreover, IRSA also conducted a meeting with the irrigation department to discuss the usage and drainage of water.

Conclusion:

In this case of water conflicts in Pakistan, especially in Punjab and Sindh, the chairman of IRSA says that all the provinces should have independence for the water share which is allocated by IRSA. Moreover, all the provinces have the freedom to modify their water shares according to their needs.

As water is the major and fundamental need of life. It is very crucial to save water for commercial as well as for domestic use.
