“Panahgahs” for underprivileged people:

The Federal Government is trying to open four more Panahgah centers in different areas. According to the officials, one out of total five Panahgahs has started functioning without any formal inauguration or media fanfare in Surjani Town, Karachi.

Federal Government identified five places in Karachi:

Prime Minister Imran Khan took this initiative for Panahgahs, and under this Federal Government has identified five different places in Karachi for the setup of many Panahgahs.

It emerged on Sunday that more than 100 such centers have already been established and is functioning in different parts of the country. Panahgah centers are for the underprivileged and needy people from the poor part of the society, in order to provide them food and shelter free of cost.

Different locations for Panahgahs:

According to the focal person for the Government’s Panahgah Program, Naeem-ur-Rehman, different locations selected for Panahgahs apart from Surjani Town includes Korangi, Lyari, New Karachi and Sohrab Goth.

To reach maximum number of deserving people, the Federal Authorities have selected low-income neighborhoods and residential areas of migrant workers.  

Naseem-ur-Rehman said “The one in Surjani Town has already started and we hope that within the first quarter of this year Karachi will get all five functional centers. It’s being done in line with the vision of the prime minister, who has been a strong proponent of providing all-out facilities to the downtrodden segment of society.”

Chief Executive Officer of IKF:

Prime Minister Imran Khan appointed Mr. Rehman as a chief executive officer of the Imran Khan Foundation (IKF). He is an international professional and have specialization in development and humanitarian issues. Mr. Rehman had played a pivotal role in the strengthening of the organization with his leadership skills and management expertise.

Administrative support by Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal is helping the organization to cater 500 people per center with food services and 100 for overnight stay.
