Background:

Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC) is a public medical University in Karachi. It was founded by Naimatullah khan in 1991. It is the only medical college in Karachi which is affiliated with Karachi University (KU).

Annual Examinations 2019:

Examination department of Karachi University has not conducted MBBS and BDS exams since the year 2019. Now in 2020, after 2 years of delaying Karachi University will be conducting the MBBS and BDS annual examinations 2019 for the KMDC students.

Sindh High Court (SHC):

For many months, students of KMDC approached the administration for the issue but no one took the step to resolve it. After being ignored for 2 years by KMDC administration students decided to approach SINDH HIGH COURT (SHC) last month. This has made the Karachi University’s Administration to look into the matter.

Examinations 2019 batch in two phases:

KU Examination Department has announced that they will conduct the MBBS and BDS annual examination of the batch 2019 in two phases. Sadly, this happened only after the case was filed in the High Court.

In First Phase, the Annual Examination 2019 will be conducted of First Year students (Batch of 2019), in which BDS examination was conducted on December 30, 2020. While the first MBBS annual exam was conducted on December 31, 2020. This Examination will continue till January 7, 2021.

The second examination date sheet of second year students will be announced after the first phase. Hopefully after January 7, 2021.

Dr. Syed Zafar Hussain, the current KU Controller Examination has given the statement that this delay was all because of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC). According to him KMDC used to follow semester system but PMDC later changed it to annual system. The change in the education system caused delayed in examination. We all hope that the University will make up the loss of the students.
