The government has announced winter vacations for schools and colleges across the province—the Winter vacations from 20th December 2022 to 1st January 2022. According to details, Sindh Education and Literacy Department (SELD) has announced that all public and private schools in Sindh will remain closed. However, the Sindh Education Department has not yet issued an official notification. Further, all educational institutions in Sindh will resume academic activities per their normal schedule from 2nd January 2022, after the winter break.

According to reports, the decision to declare winter vacations in Sindh was taken by the steering committee of the Ministry of Education. It was finalized after CM Murad Ali Shah. According to the Department of Education and Schools announcement, due to the haze conditions, all government and non-government schools in the Lahore region are closed every Friday and Saturday in addition to weekly Sunday holidays until further orders will remain. According to a notification issued by PDMA, all private institutions and their branch offices operating in the Lahore border will remain closed on Friday and Saturday as citizens’ breathing has been affected by smog in Lahore.
