Karachi’s wedding, hall and lawn owners have dismissed the new Covid standard operating procedures (SOPs) turned out by the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC).

The Karachi Marriage Hall, Lawn, Banquet Owners Association held a press conference at the press club on Saturday to state that the new COVID-19 SOPs were financially underestimating them.

He clarified that wedding hall owners and their huge number of workers had just confronted an extreme economic crisis when all the halls were shut between March 13 and September 15 during the lockdown time.

The owners saddened that when halls resumed after September 15, they didn’t get the predicted business as the vast majority incline toward not to get married during Muharram and Safar, which occurred after the halls were reopened.

The association president stated, with the closure of the wedding halls due the Covid-19 outbreak, a great many workers will be directly or indirectly influenced.

He also stated, the government, which should be a good example, had itself neglected to restrict the quantity of individuals going to its political social affairs and execute the SOPs.

He said that in any event, when wedding halls were authorized to open after September 15, they were shut down and fined in the city consistently for the sake of SOPs violations.

He mentioned Prime Minister Imran Khan, the chief justice of Pakistan and army chief to investigate the issues of the wedding hall owners and their employees. He said “We command SOPs be implemented for wedding halls in the wake of accepting us.”
