Federal Minister for Power and Petroleum Omar Ayub Khan on Saturday justified the ongoing rise in fuel costs, saying that the legislature updated costs of oil based products keeping in see rising oil costs movement in the worldwide market.

He further said that the legislature had raised the costs of oil based products to share the effect of increasing global rates with the customers.

Omar Ayub said that the international market saw 112 percent rise in oil costs during recent days yet the administration had increased the costs of oil based goods by just 25 percent.

Omar Ayub said petroleum costs are higher in Bangladesh, India and different nations of the region. He said the rise made in fuel Pakistan is still not as much as when differentiated with other provincial nations.

The minister said that the legislature is devoted to give help to individuals, in this manner, it has not expanded the costs as indicated by international movement.

As per a notice gave by the legislature on the issue, new cost for a liter of petroleum is currently Rs100.10.

Omar Ayub said in opposition to the past government, each feasible legal move will be made against the beneficiaries of oil shortfall in the nation. He blamed PML-N for securing petroleum mafia, including that former finance minister had ended an investigation against the mafia by utilizing his political impact in 2015.
