Additionally, a westerly wave prevails over Pakistan’s upper and central regions. These weather patterns are expected to bring rain, wind, and thunderstorms.

From the 27th (night) to the 30th of July, the regions that may experience rain and wind-thundershowers with scattered heavy falls include Kashmir (Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur), Gilgit Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, and Shigar), Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Karak, Waziristan, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Kasur, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Bhakkar, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, and Okara.

On 27th (night) & the 28th of July, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbella, Awaran, Kech, Gwadar, Panjgur, Mastung, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Zhob, Sherani, Barkhan, Musakhel, Kohlu, Jhal Magsi, Loralai, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Khanewal, Layyah, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan may experience rain, wind-thundershowers, and few heavy falls.

Potential Impact and Precautions:

  • Flash flooding: Heavy rains may lead to flash flooding in Balochistan and hill torrents in Dera Ghazi Khan on the 27th (night) & 28th of July. In Kashmir, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Manshera, Abbottabad, Rawalpindi/Islamabad (including Lai Nullah), such conditions may persist from the 27th (night) to the 29th of July.
  • Urban flooding and landslides: Urban areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Gujranwala, Lahore, and Faisalabad are at risk of urban flooding from the 27th (night) to the 29th of July. Landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the period.
