Banks to start to accept Hajj applications from March 2023

The federal government has finally revealed the dates for accepting Hajj applications for 2023. However, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Mufti Abdul Shakoor, announced the dates in an official press conference after the federal cabinet approved the Hajj Policy 2023.

Hajj applications on 16 March:

In a press conference announcing the 2023 Hajj policy, the Foreign Minister said that applications could be sent from 16 March Thursday, and it will end on 31 March, Friday at 14 designated banks. However, the minister said the global recession had affected Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Therefore, interested applicants should prepare the necessary documents to avoid problems.  Alike due to the decline of the Pakistani Rupee, the cost of Hajj under the government scheme has jumped by Rs. 3 lac.

Hajj balloting:

The minister said that the Hajj vote would be held on 5 April as per schedule. According to the financial bankruptcy, the estimated cost of Hajj from Northern Regions (Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Sialkot) is Rs 1,175,000 and sponsored Hajj Scheme (Northern Region is $4.325.

Sponsorship scheme:

The minister added that the Sponsorship scheme plan has also been approved. If the quota of this plan is fully used, 194 million dollars of the 284 million dollars required for the successful implementation of this year’s Hajj will be provided. The Finance Ministry has guaranteed that the rest of the costs will cover. However, Abdul Shakur also stated that 179,210 people would go on pilgrimage this year and said this quota would divide between government and private pilgrimage projects at 50%. However, He said 50 percent of the public and private Hajj quotas (44 thousand 802 seats each) are considered for the Hajj project, and if all the quotas are filled, the registration will be stopped.
