Higher Education Commission (HEC) announcement:

Students are request not to take admissions in any Unauthorized 2-years Bachelor or Master Programs (BA/BSc or MA/MSc), as announced by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Sunday.

According to the tweets of Commission on Twitter, there have been reports that 1 or 2 universities are offering admission in the bachelors’ program. HEC said, “Though this will earn money for the varsity, it will not be in the interest of students.”

Degrees from Unauthorized Universities:

Higher Education Commission (HEC) stated that any degree from unauthorized universities will not be accepted and will not enable students in job applications or further education.

Abolished 2-Year Bachelor’s Degree:

According to HEC, the 2-Year Bachelor’s degree programs will not be recognize now. The notification issued as “The 2-year bachelor’s degrees shall not be recognized by the HEC for students enrolled in these programs after December 31, 2018.”

All across Pakistan, HEC has abolished these 2-Years Bachelor’s Program from the Universities in 2020. This means students can no longer avail of the 2-Year BCom or BSc degrees.

In COVID Pandemic situation:

On 31st December 2020, exams of BA/BSc along with admissions of MS/MSc was announced but due to the Pandemic Covid-19 situation, they will allow a 3-month grace period until 31st March 2021 for the exams. It will be considered as the 2020 exam. The deadline for the final batch of MS/MSc is also extended to this date.

HEC has given students some flexibility, the BA/BSc degree holders can apply for admission in the 5th semester (3rd Year) after completion. If the deadline for MS/MSc missed, students can apply for a third year BS program.

The Commission has warned :

The Commission has given warnings to the students, who are opting to take admissions in illegal and phased out programs. They will be fined in such conditions.

After 31st December 2020, HEC will not recognize the degrees of conventional BA/BSc programs.
