The SSGC clarifies that the information affected by it is “false news.” source: thenews.com.pk

On Sunday, Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) dismissed reports circulating on social media that it had launched a gas supply system in the wake of the expected shortage in Pakistan during the winter months. Referring to the image circulating on social media, SSGC clarified that SSGC information is “fake news.”

SSGC refutes reports:

“There is a message shared on social media’ Gas  System,’ which includes information to the SSGC. Please note that these are false stories and the SSGC has nothing to do with them. If there is a declaration of reduction, it will come out of the Petroleum Division.

Gas Scheduler:

At a post mentioned in the SSGC, the gas company announced the timing of the gas shut-off period, according to which gas would be provided to domestic consumers three times a day during these hours:

Morning: 5:30 am-8:30am

Afternoon: 11:30 am-2pm

Evening: 4 pm-10pm

Supply will be guaranteed for breakfast, lunch, dinner hours.’

The “false news” on social media follows a statement on Friday by Energy Minister Hammad Azhar, who said gas supplies for breakfast, lunch, and dinner would be guaranteed. The announcement came during a debate in the Senate on the expected gas crisis as Azhar fired rumors about the gas supply only three days a week.

“For the first time, the government is trying to ensure that gas is available three times a day,” Azhar said. When asked if people would fry an egg during a gas shortage, Azhar responded positively.

Domestic, industrial consumers will face gas shortages

Earlier this week, the News newspaper reported that the Pakistani government had decided to continue supplying gas to the energy and fertilizer sectors. At the same time, domestic and industrial consumers would face shortages between the country’s biggest gas shortages during the winter. The decision was taken by the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCoE) at a meeting on Thursday chaired by Minister of State for Planning and Development Asad Umar.

Supply gas to Punjab and KP:

The CCOE decided that gas supply to “dedicated” consumers, including the electricity and fertilizer industries, would remain stable. The power plants at Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited, which supply gas to Punjab and KP, will be provided with RLNG between 2021-22 and additional supply. The oil will offset the energy shortage in the furnace. Any gas stored in the seized power plants will be diverted to export-oriented industries.

Maximum gas supply Available:

The total amount of gas from domestic services stands at 3,300 mmcfd, and with the introduction of RLNG, another 1,000 mmcfd gas enters the system, reports published, citing official sources. A large amount of gas is available in the range of 4,300 mmcfd compared to the average demand of 6,500 to 7,000 mmcfd. In the harsh winter season, this demand rises to 8,000 mmcfd.
