Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan offers great investment opportunities in the technology sector. Moreover, the premier said foreign technology companies would be facilitated in every investment and growth. He made the remarks during a meeting with Mr. Yi Xiang, Huawei’s Vice President.
Intends to increase the IT exports:
The Prime minister said the current government plans to increase IT exports from $ 1.5 billion to $ 15 billion next year. Furthermore, he said that working closely with Huawei would lead to the training of Pakistani youth in various ways, including the establishment of ICT schools. PM Shehbaz emphasized that investment in technology would increase the Opportunities for employment and skills development for Pakistani youth. He also noted the need to speed up planning efforts within a week.
Huawei’s footprint in Pakistan:
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with Huawei’s long-standing partnership with Pakistan and investment in the telecommunications sector. While thanking the Prime Minister, Xiang expressed interest in expanding Huawei’s territory in Pakistan. Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and Chinese Embassy Ms. Pang Chunxue were also present during the meeting.
The Prime Minister emphasized that investment in technology would increase employment and skills development for Pakistani youth, especially women, as the government focused on improving the number of women in the e-commerce sector by providing them with the right environment to train and raise money. Furthermore, Shahbaz Sharif also stressed the need to speed up planning collaborative efforts during the week and highlighted the government’s determination not to leave any stone unturned to achieve the stated goals.
