PM Shehbaz Sharif has opened a Metro bus service from Islamabad’s Peshawar Mor to the federal capital’s airport. However, confirming his determination to work for the welfare of the people, the PM said he would continue to work at the pace he was used to. Addressing the Ceremony:

Speaking at an event in Islamabad, the prime minister thanked the Chinese and Turkish governments for the Islamabad metro bus project. He also thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping for infrastructure projects under the China – Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Moreover, he said former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif laid the foundation stone for the project in 2017, and it was due to be completed in 2018. Cost and details of the Project :

The PM said the Islamabad metro bus project had been delayed despite funding, adding that the project should not have been delayed by four months. Criticizing the previous government, the prime minister said the PTI had also delayed constructing the Orange Line Metro train project in Lahore. The project’s actual cost was Rs 16 billion, and the project was delayed by four years like other projects due to the inefficiency of the PTI government. Avail metro bus rides free of cost:

PM said Islamabad residents could use the free metro bus rides for the month of Ramazan. It is worth mentioning here that shortly after taking office on April 12, Prime Minister Shehbaz announced that he would launch the Metro Bus Service at Islamabad Airport within five days.

Ticketing system:

Capital Development Authority chairman Amer Ali Ahmed said the bus ticketing process had been finalized and would be implemented soon. He said an app had been launched to help commuters buy online tickets to get the service. He said work would also start with metro buses from Rawat to Faizabad.
