PM Imran feels proud to facilitate Karachi at a modern transport system as green line BRT on the upcoming Friday. Therefore, Asad Umar shared this news today and announced that PM Imran would inaugurate Karachi’s first modern transport system, Greenline BRT, on December 10.

After a two-week trial, a green line bus will be available to the public on December 25. The BRT green Karachi project was started by Nawaz sharif in 2016. It was estimated that the project would be completed in one year, but as a result, coronavirus and many other reasons take more than 5 years to complete.

The Green Line BRT The Karachi rapid transit bus line has been under construction since February 2016; however, the first phase of the Karachi Metrobus network will consist of a 21-mile (13-mile) bus lane with 22 stations (Station after each kilometer.). Daewoo will operate an 80-bus fleet on the green line. It is scheduled to be operational in November 2021. So far, 40 Chinese buses have arrived in the port of Karachi to do the job. Minister of Planning and Development Organization Asad Umar said at a ceremony to mark the arrival of buses in Karachi.

Karachi is facing an uncontrollable period of rapid urban growth and traffic mechanization. However, the city’s current public transportation system accounts for a small percentage of total vehicles (4.5 percent) and provides about 42 percent of passenger demand. However, no dedicated roads or other traffic control solutions may be offered compared to private cars. That covers about 36 percent of all vehicles but only 21 percent of passengers. Para-transit mode carries 10% of cargo vessels and takes 8% of passengers. Although contract carts make up 2% of motor vehicles, they have 10% of all passengers (JICA Person Trip Study, 2005). Following the completion of the testing, the Green Line bus service will be operational in Karachi on December 25, 2021. Last month, 80 buses from the green line project arrived in Karachi.

The primary project objectives are:

  • Provide reliable, safe, affordable, high quality, and timely BRT bus service.
  • Improve the quality of life of travelers in Karachi
  • Significantly improves the quality of the Karachi public transport system
  • To build bus infrastructure for efficiency by giving them a special right of way with a significant portion of the length of their route
  • To create the infrastructure that allows buses to run smoothly by giving them a special privilege of the way with an important part of their path length, 4.
  • Reduce travel time
