PTA, authorization holder Inovi Telecom has started exporting smartphones to other countries. The first load of 5500 units of 4G smartphones with the tag “Made in Pakistan” has been shipped to the UAE. However, local mobile phone manufacturers have stressed an export sponsorship policy for Pakistan to beat its rivals in the Middle East region.

Inovi Telecom Pvt Ltd was granted permission to make mobile devices in April and fulfill its first export order in four months. Director Zeeshan Mian Noor said their main goal was to penetrate low-end markets in the Middle East, including Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan. “We are building Chinese products, and there are a large number of ex-pat workers in the Gulf countries,” he said, adding that high-profile consumers in the Gulf countries prefer the world’s best brands, and we should not even try to engage in that market. He said the Gulf market was heavily targeted, with ordinary citizens in Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan choosing mobiles up to $ 100 each.

IT and Communications Minister Syed Amin ul Haque said the government’s “favorable” policies had helped achieve the milestone of transforming Pakistan from an importer into an exporting country. He added that providing a good location for companies where mobile phones are being manufactured and smuggling mobile phones have been suspended through the Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS). The minister superimposed that native makers would eventually assemble advanced phones once spare parts for mobile sets begin next year.
