Pakistan Launches First Electric Taxi service In Islamabad.
The first e-taxi service is a joint-venture of Faisal Movers and the Sapphire Group

Pakistan has launched its First Electric taxi system in the Northern Area to promote environmentally friendly tourism in northern Pakistan. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Climate Change Minister Malik Amin Aslam has launched Pakistan’s first electric taxi service in Islamabad.

To Preserve the Natural Ecosystem

The service delivery is a joint venture between Sapphire Group and Faisal movers and aims to reduce Pakistan’s carbon footprint and help save the natural ecosystem of the northern regions, particularly Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

The launch event was organized at a local hotel in Islamabad

Speaking at the launch event, Malik Amin said, “I congratulate Sapphire Group and Faisal Movers for their partnership as they embrace the future in the field of excellence and sustainable growth.”

Eco-friendly transportation

Electric Taxi will also preserve the natural beauty of northern areas, especially Gilgit-Baltistan. “The region is facing the major effects of rising temperatures leading to ice slides and floods from the lake. In addition, the “transformation of vehicles getting into the pretty tourer spaces of GB would bring a revolution within the area through eco-friendly transportation.”

Travel Distance:

According to Amin Aslam, this e-taxis will bring Rs. 12,000  budget savings could also lead to Rs. 2 billion in oil import bills. According to an engineer associated with a private e-taxi company, electric cars would travel 250km with a full battery.

Launch two charging units in Islamabad and Murree

It was also announced during the event that two car charging stations would be installed in Islamabad and Murree after the launch of the e-taxi service. GB CM Khalid Khursheed Khan said in a statement that the taxi service would be “from the country’s capital to Murree and Nathiagali and its high engine power and battery could also allow the vehicle to enter a hilly area.
