ISLAMABAD: Already famous for its engineering surprises, the Karakoram Highway (KKH) is now ranked among the 15 best roads in the world for its magnificent beauty. In its classification, Wikicampers, a website that provides tourist services to various parts of the world, has called KKH “the ideal place for a tiring road trip.”
“Let’s achieve the height again by taking the second highest asphalt road in the world,” the website said, explaining the features of this road.
The scenic route connects China to Pakistan.
Karakoram Highway KKH connects China with Pakistan while crossing the Karakoram mountain range and operating along some mountains more than 7,000 meters high.
The nearly 1,300 KM highway from Hasan Abdal to Khunjrab Pass in Gilgit-Baltistan crosses into China. In a written statement, the BBC also named KKH one of the world’s paved roads, a significant trade route between Pakistan and China. It also said that the road was fully developed, smooth and safe.
Other similar websites also call the highway one of the best travel destinations that offer amazing views while traversing the Himalayas, Karakoram, and the Hindu Kush sites.
Other roads separated by Wikicampers include the California State Route of the USA, Atlantic Road of Norway, The Col du Stelvio in Italy, The Dades Gorges Road of Morocco, TF 436 of Spain, Millau Viaduct of France, and Icefields Promenade Canada.
The Most beautiful roads
Some of the best roads in this area include the RN 40 or Argentina, Col de Sani of South Africa, Denali Highway of Alsaka, USA, Basque Corniche of France, Transfagarasm Road of Romania, Gorges du Verdon of France, and the Great Ocean Australian Road.
