After the new policy details released there was much commotion among the WhatsApp users because of privacy being compromised. WhatsApp clarified the concerns of the users and privacy activists. The company announced in their blog that the new policy will not compromise the privacy of user chats and calls with Friends or Family in any way.

Facebook New Privacy Policy:

Recently the most popular messaging service WhatsApp by Facebook announced its new privacy policy which includes personal data of users, phone numbers and user’s locations will be shared with its Parent company Facebook. This new policy caused a frenzy around the world. Users have to accept the new policy otherwise their accounts will be removed from WhatsApp.

“Accept Our Data Grab or Get Out” move:

This “Accept Our Data Grab or Get Out” move was questioned by users and privacy activists. The facebook-owned company clarified its concerns.

According to WhatsApp “We want to be clear that the policy update does not affect the privacy of your messages with friends or family in any way. Instead, this update includes changes related to messaging a business on WhatsApp, which is optional, and provides further transparency about how we collect and use data,”

The company will not keep any contact records of its two billion users. The location sent to families and friends will be encrypted.  As it is both a privacy and security risk, user chats and calls will be protected by end-to-end encryption.

Securing Hosting Services:

Businesses on WhatsApp will be given options to use secure hosting services from Facebook, to manage their customers. Tech Giants can see the conversations and can use them for marketing purposes whether you communicate by phone, email, or WhatsApp.

The company says that if customers do shopping from the businesses marketed on WhatsApp or Facebook, then to personalize their shopping experiences, ads will be given on Facebook and Instagram.
